Who You Are The Sr. Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial reporting and analysis, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies. This role requires accounting professional with a CPA designation and approximately 2+ years post qualification experience We have started a financial system upgrade and are looking for someone excited to embrace new technologies and methods of doing work. What You’ll Do * * Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, allocations, and account reconciliations. * Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately, completely, and in accordance with applicable accounting standards (US GAAP) and company policies. * Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations, investigating variances and resolving reconciling items in a timely manner. * Assist in the preparation of the financial statements, management reporting packages, and variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, forecast, and prior periods. * Assist with cash flow analysis, working capital monitoring, intercompany accounting, fixed asset accounting, and other corporate accounting activities as required. * Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation. * Partner with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Operations, and other departments to resolve accounting issues and improve reporting accuracy. * Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve controls, reduce manual work, and enhance financial reporting quality. * Support tax, regulatory, statutory, and corporate reporting requirements by preparing schedules and responding to information requests. * Mentor junior accounting team members and contribute to a culture of accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and professional development. * Assist in UAT of financial system upgrade. * Finance / Interdepartmental projects as they arise. * Technical Accounting Expertise: Applies strong accounting judgment and understands the impact of transactions on financial reporting. * Analytical Thinking: Interprets financial information, identifies trends, and provides clear recommendations. * Accuracy and Accountability: Produces high-quality work with strong attention to detail and ownership of deliverables. * Business Partnership: Builds effective relationships across departments and communicates financial information clearly. * Process Improvement: Looks for practical ways to improve efficiency, controls, and reporting reliability. * Leadership and Mentorship: Provides guidance to junior team members and contributes to a collaborative finance environment What You’ll Bring Required Qualifications * CPA designation in good standing. * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. * Approximately 5+ years of accounting experience (including articleship years) * Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting requirements, reconciliations, month-end close, and internal controls. * Experience preparing financial statements, management reports, variance analysis, and audit support schedules. * Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of ERP/accounting systems. * Curiosity about artificial intelligence and how to improve processes. * Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, identify issues, and recommend practical solutions. * Knowledge about manufacturing companies, inventory, job costing, margin analysis is preferred * Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to both finance and non-finance stakeholders. * Experience in a publicly traded, multi-entity, manufacturing, construction, technology, or project-based environment is preferred * Familiarity with SOX controls, audit coordination, or formal internal control frameworks is preferred. * Experience with intercompany accounting, fixed assets, revenue accounting, lease accounting, or inventory/cost accounting is preferred. * Power BI, Power Query, or other reporting and automation experience would be considered an asset.
