Role Overview: As a General Accountant, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting smooth financial operations. You will work closely with a dynamic team, ensuring compliance and excellence in all financial processes. Key Responsibilities: Prepare, review, and process both routine and non-routine journal entries accurately and efficiently. Oversee and manage the full Accounts Receivable cycle to ensure smooth operations and timely collections. Handle government remittances, including HST calculations and payments, income tax payments, and preparing and submitting T5018 forms in compliance with regulatory requirements. Review and manage equipment records, including setting up assets, assigning appropriate charge-out rates, and tracking depreciation accurately. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cash management tasks, such as preparing cash flow statements, reconciling bank accounts, processing wire payments, and ensuring cheque fraud protection. Monitor compliance across all projects, ensuring the receipt and proper documentation of key requirements, including Letters of Intent, subcontractor contracts, insurance, Form 1000, safety acknowledgments, and WSIB documentation. Manage WSIB reporting, coordinate vehicle insurance renewals, and assist with year-end audits to ensure smooth and accurate processes. Provide support and backup for payroll processing when needed, ensuring continuity and accuracy. Assist management with additional tasks as required, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the team. Qualification & Experience: 3+ years of experience’ construction industry experience is an asset. Diploma/degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g. Viewpoint preferred) Detail-oriented, collaborative, and solutions-driven. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships across teams.
