Our client, a prominent transportation company, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team on a 9-month contract, with strong potential for the role to become permanent. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned accounting professional to take ownership of accounting for a significant business unit while playing a key role in a major IFRS 16 lease accounting implementation project. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to quickly navigate complex systems and processes in a large organization. What Our Client Has to Offer: Lead a significant IFRS 16 lease accounting implementation project Opportunity for the role to transition to a permanent position Leadership responsibility within a large, multi-entity organization A dynamic environment with exposure to cross-functional and system-related initiatives Responsibilities: Oversee all accounting and reporting activities for the Western divisions across multiple legal entities Lead the month-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting Manage IFRS 16 lease accounting, including lease assessments, right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, reconciliations, and financial statement disclosures Take ownership of the IFRS 16 lease conversion/implementation project, ensuring a successful and timely transition Review and analyze financial results, identifying unusual items, variances, and areas requiring attention Oversee internal controls, account reconciliations, audit support, and continuous improvement initiatives Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff while maintaining a hands-on approach to the accounting function Partner with the Controller, FP&A, IT, and operational leaders on financial and cross-functional initiatives Support ERP and other technology implementation projects Qualifications: CPA designation is required Extensive IFRS experience, particularly IFRS 16 lease accounting Proven experience in a large, complex, or multi-entity organization Strong hands-on general accounting manager experience with the ability to quickly understand complex systems, processes, and business operations Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to take ownership and work independently This posting is for an open vacancy currently available within our client's organization.
