Accountant / Accounts Payable Specialist TAC Builders Ltd. | Selkirk, Manitoba Full-time | Permanent | On-site | Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week Salary: $65,000–$70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications About Us TAC Builders is a locally owned construction company based in Selkirk, Manitoba, specializing in the development and construction of thoughtfully designed multifamily rental communities. Working alongside Lionheart Developments and Harvest Gate Properties, our team is involved in every stage of our projects, from development and construction through to the ongoing management of our completed properties. We're a small, collaborative team with a growing portfolio of residential properties. Our workplace is friendly, supportive and down-to-earth. We value accountability, initiative, strong working relationships and a willingness to help one another succeed. About the Opportunity As our business continues to grow, we're creating a new Accountant / Accounts Payable Specialist position to support the accounting operations of our related companies. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role offers a combination of hands-on transactional accounting and broader accounting responsibilities. Accounts payable, invoice processing and data entry are important components of the position. However, this is not solely an accounts payable role. You'll also be involved in multi-entity accounting, reconciliations, job costing, month-end and year-end processes, fixed assets and financial reporting support. We're looking for someone who brings a solid accounting foundation, enjoys working with numbers and details, and is interested in understanding how the different parts of a growing business work together. You'll initially learn our established accounting processes and systems, with the opportunity to take greater ownership of your responsibilities, contribute ideas and develop your accounting knowledge as you grow into the role. Key Responsibilities Process and code accounts payable invoices, ensuring accurate allocation to the appropriate company, property, project and general ledger account. Support accounts receivable activities and reconcile transactions between Yardi, QuickBooks Online and related banking records. Prepare general ledger, balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules. Support intercompany accounting, project cost allocations and job costing. Assist with fixed asset records, continuity schedules and amortization calculations in collaboration with the Controller. Investigate accounting discrepancies and variances and assist with resolving outstanding items. Prepare supporting schedules and information used in financial reporting. Maintain accurate accounting documentation and assist with the development of consistent accounting procedures. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute practical recommendations to the Controller. Qualifications and Experience We're looking for candidates with a strong foundation in accounting and the ability to contribute to both day-to-day operations and broader financial processes. Approximately 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within a multi-entity environment. Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Strong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end processes. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable and journal entries. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to work independently while contributing to a small, collaborative team. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications CPA designation or advanced progress toward completion of the CPA program is strongly preferred. Candidates with substantial equivalent accounting experience, particularly in construction, real estate development or property management, will also be considered. Experience in construction, real estate development or property management accounting. QuickBooks Online experience is strongly preferred; comparable accounting software experience will also be considered. QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification is a strong asset. Experience with Yardi property management software is a strong asset. Experience with intercompany accounting and job costing. Adobe Acrobat proficiency is an asset. What We Offer Competitive annual salary of $65,000–$70,000, based on qualifications and experience. Health Spending Account. RRSP program. Paid vacation and paid sick time. On-site parking. A supportive, collaborative working environment. Opportunities for professional growth and broader accounting experience. The opportunity to contribute to a growing, locally owned Manitoba business. How to Apply Interested candidates are asked to submit a resume and cover letter outlining their relevant accounting experience, qualifications and how their background aligns with the position. We appreciate the interest of all applicants; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
