Senior Accountant – Financial Services Toronto, ON | Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite We’re currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant to join a well-established financial services organization in Toronto. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you’ll act as the 2IC within the finance function, taking ownership of key accounting and financial reporting activities while working closely with senior leadership, the Board and external Auditors. This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced accountant who enjoys taking ownership of the numbers and wants the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders. What you’ll be responsible for: Manage full-cycle accounting, including month-end journal entries, reconciliations and close activities Prepare financial statements and financial commentary Prepare memos and notes for external Auditors and the Board of Directors Work directly with external Auditors throughout the audit process Manage payroll for salaried employees Support the Director of Finance across the broader finance function and act as their 2IC Ensure financial reporting is accurate, timely and compliant with internal and external requirements What we’re looking for: CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA 5+ years of accounting experience Strong experience with month-end close Proven experience preparing financial statements and commentary Experience working directly with external Auditors Previous payroll experience Strong attention to detail with the ability to take ownership of your work Financial services experience is an asset Not-for-profit or public accounting experience would be an asset What’s on offer: $85,000–$100,000 base salary Extensive healthcare and benefits coverage Significant paid time off Hybrid working model – 3 days onsite in Toronto High-visibility role reporting directly to the Director of Finance Opportunity to act as the 2IC and take on significant responsibility across the finance function

Requirements

Candidates need a CPA designation or be actively pursuing one, along with at least five years of accounting experience and strong month-end close and financial statement preparation experience. Direct experience with external auditors and payroll is required; financial services, not-for-profit, or public accounting experience is an asset.
