Job summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-orientated Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. As Senior Accountant you will be responsible for hands on day-to-day review of processed accounts payables/receivables, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting the month-end and year-end close processes, preparing/reviewing account reconciliations and contributing to financial reporting and analysis. This role is well suited for an accounting professional with 3-4 years of progressive accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working towards the improvement of process and systems. Responsibilities: * In collaboration with the controller, prepare and post monthly journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts. * Assist the accounts payable team to process a large volume of transactions * Full cycle, month-end, and quarter-end reporting. * Aiding in the year-end closing activities. * Manage regulatory fillings such as GST, PST, WCB * Analyze financial results and provide variance analysis as required * Bank Reconciliations * Support inventory accounting and related reconciliations. * Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows and system efficiencies. * Complete ad hoc and special projects as assigned Qualifications: * Minimum of 3 years progressive accounting experience. * Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field. * Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. * Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. * Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations and month-end closing activities. * Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving abilities. * Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet defined deadlines. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. * Experience in a retail environment is considered a strong asset. * Experience using ERP/accounting systems with Microsoft 365 Business Central, preferred. * Working towards a CPA designation would be an asset What we offer: * Competitive total compensation package * Opportunities for growth and development. * Opportunity to contribute to a growing and dynamic workforce. * Group Health & Dental Benefits, paid time off, employee discount
