We are looking for a Chartered Accountant (12-Month Contract) to join our team!

As part of the Finance and Accounting team, the Chartered Accountant will provide senior-level accounting expertise while supporting the organization through a period of continued growth and operational integration. Reporting to the President, this role will be responsible for complex accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting, process improvements, and supporting audit and compliance activities across multiple business entities. The successful candidate is a collaborative finance professional with strong technical accounting knowledge, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities · Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes · Prepare and review complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules · Assist with the preparation of consolidated financial statements and supporting working papers · Research and apply appropriate accounting treatment for complex or non-routine transactions · Support external audits by preparing schedules, responding to audit requests, and coordinating with auditors · Assist with corporate tax, sales tax, and regulatory compliance reporting as required · Review balance sheet reconciliations and identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and financial processes · Support acquisitions, business integrations, and other strategic finance initiatives as required · Partner with operational leaders to provide financial analysis and accounting guidance · Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis where required · Identify and implement improvements to accounting processes, reporting, automation, and internal controls · Provide mentorship and technical guidance to members of the accounting team · Utilize advanced Excel, ERP reporting tools, and AI-enabled productivity methods to improve efficiency, documentation, and reporting quality · Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned by the Controller

Qualifications · Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline · Active CPA designation (CPA Canada) required · Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) and/or IFRS · Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and technical accounting · Ability to leverage AI tools and effective prompting techniques to improve efficiency, reporting quality, and analytical output

Experience & Skills · 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity environment · Experience supporting external audits and preparing year-end financial statements · Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is considered a strong asset) · Advanced Microsoft Excel skills · Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities · Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy · Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines · Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments · Demonstrated experience improving accounting processes and implementing efficiencies · Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or business integrations is considered an asset

Application Procedure This is a full-time, 12-month contract position located in Midland, ON. The ideal candidate will be from the Midland and surrounding area or within a reasonable commuting distance.
