About the role

Job Description What is the opportunity? As a Senior Technical Architect, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and AI-driven solutions aligned with RBC’s enterprise architecture. Key responsibilities include architecting AI-native systems (autonomous agents, multi-agent frameworks, ML pipelines) to enable intelligent automation, ensuring responsible AI adoption (governance, explainability, bias mitigation), and guiding RBC’s digital transformation. You’ll leverage expertise in OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), and Virtual Machine (VM)-based environments, and RBC’s internal IT systems while influencing stakeholders through RBC's Architecture Review Board (ARB) processes to deploy agentic AI systems compliantly and safely under Canadian financial regulations. What will you do? Lead end-to-end technical solution design for strategic initiatives, ensuring alignment with RBC’s enterprise standards, security guidelines, and technology strategy. Serve as a domain expert in RBC internal systems, OCP clusters (on-prem/cloud), and VM infrastructures, ensuring seamless integration with existing platforms. Collaborate cross-functionally with business, infrastructure, security, and development teams to define solution architecture, deployment models, and transition strategies. Architect agentic AI systems (e.g., multi-agent frameworks, RAG pipelines) for autonomous task orchestration, grounded in RBC’s knowledge bases and regulatory requirements. Establish governance frameworks for AI systems, including guardrails, audit trails, and compliance with OSFI/FINTRAC guidelines, while embedding responsible AI principles (explainability, fairness). Design and operationalize AI platforms on OCP, including LLM deployment patterns, model serving infrastructure, and data governance standards for scalable, secure AI workflows. Mentor architects and developers on standards, tools, and best practices while evaluating emerging technologies to enhance RBC’s architectural landscape. Engage stakeholders through ARB presentations, executive narratives, and industry forums, bridging technical and business needs to drive AI and payment modernization initiatives. What do you need to succeed? Must have: 10+ years of Enterprise Architecture or Solution Architecture experience designing large-scale, enterprise-grade solutions in complex organizations (preferably financial services). Deep knowledge of RBC-like enterprise infrastructure and strong hands-on experience with OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Kubernetes, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS/GCP), Linux, and VM-based infrastructure and understanding of integrating enterprise applications and APIs. AI and Agentic Architecture experience in designing AI solutions using LLMs, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI agents, MCP, and multi-agent orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or equivalent. Demonstrated experience with Enterprise Architecture Governance producing architecture artifacts, presenting to Architecture Review Boards (ARB), and ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, security, and governance. Strong understanding of secure solution design, identity, data governance, privacy, AI governance, and regulatory frameworks applicable to financial institutions. Strong Leadership and Stakeholder Management skills leading architecture across multiple teams, mentoring architects and developers, and communicating effectively with executives, business leaders, security, and engineering teams. Nice-to-Have: Experience within banking, payments, cards, fraud, or digital banking platforms. Experience deploying and managing LLMs, GPU infrastructure, model serving, vector databases, and AI observability. Knowledge of tokenization, digital identity, blockchain, digital assets, agentic commerce, or payment modernization. TOGAF, AWS/Azure/GCP Architect, Kubernetes (CKA), Red Hat OpenShift, CISSP, or AI-related certifications. What’s in it for you?
