Summary/objective

Are you a senior level designated accounting and finance professional with a growth-oriented mindset that blends an operational perspective with a commitment to financial management? Would you like to use your experience in a Manitoba-based business with a very successful track record? The Controller will be working in a supervisory and strategic capacity, reporting to the organization's President, while also interacting with the North American CFO and finance team at Tavoron.

Essential Functions

Manage all aspects of accounting and finance for the organization. Develop, implement, and maintain financial control and guidelines to safeguard company assets. Oversee the Job costing for all projects and report on profitability of the jobs on hand. Track project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and revenue recognition throughout the project lifecycle. Prepare project financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for internal stakeholders. Oversee the preparation of monthly and yearly financial statements. Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management. Maintain accurate inventory records, including receipts, transfers, adjustments, and consumption. Manage cycle counts and physical inventory audits to ensure data integrity. Monitor inventory levels to support production and project needs while minimizing carrying costs. Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a monthly and annual basis. Assist with the annual GAAP financial statement audit and ensure compliance with GAAP reporting requirements Assist with the preparation and completion of the annual CRA returns Review all payroll reporting prior to processing to ensure accuracy of employee payroll and compliance with labor and government requirements. Establish internal control systems to prevent inaccuracies in financial statements. Analysis of financial records, to ensure that the company is working towards its targets. Evaluate financial metrics and perform due diligence on financial and operational matters. Develop and mentor a finance and accounting team, establish and implement accounting processes and controls and provide continued mentorship and management of finance and accounting functions to support the business. Ensure compliance with all required government regulations and reporting requirements including CRA, GST and PST Provide continuous improvement and process improvement to the organization for further efficiency and effectiveness. Manage facility lease and improvement contracts as well as maintenance and repair contracts. Provide regular communication and reporting to parent company finance leader.

Required Education And Experience.

The Controller will possess a recognized Canadian accounting designation, CPA (CA, CGA CMA) and will have previous experience in a manufacturing, construction, or distribution environment. The Controller will need to be comfortable in building processes and teams and as such a hands-on attitude and ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities will be key. Experience with job costing and percentage of completion accounting required. You would have 5 plus years of strategic finance and leadership experience with strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to balance the operational requirements of the role with the financial reporting for the company. The Controller will possess strong communication skills and should be able to lead and work with all staff within the organization, at multiple levels and in a diverse range of roles and industries. You should be comfortable working with and possibly implementing IT and accounting systems and should have a strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
