About the role

Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital – Vice President, Investment Strategist

Toronto, ON

We are pleased to support Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital ("CC&L PCM"), in the search for a Vice President, Investment Strategist. This is a senior communications and markets role at the heart of CC&L PCM’s investment platform, translating the firm’s investment views, portfolio positioning, and results into clear, compelling communication for their internal stakeholders.

This is a high-visibility opportunity to shape CC&L PCM's communications strategy, alongside the firm's most senior investment decision-makers. For the right person, it offers long-term growth potential within a firm that is committed to elevating its investment communications and thought leadership.

About Connor, Clark & Lunn Private Capital

CC&L PCM is one of Canada’s largest independently owned high-net-worth investment management firms, managing approximately $22 billion in financial assets. The firm has grown rapidly over the last several years, driven by its reputation for delivering consistently strong portfolio performance and its unique product offerings, which include diverse portfolios of institutional-grade assets. CC&L PCM integrates private and public market asset classes, covering all major categories.

Founded in 1997, CC&L PCM was established with a vision to provide private clients access to the discipline and expertise typically reserved for institutional pension clients. Today, they serve a wide range of clients, including individuals, families, Indigenous communities, not-for-profits, and charitable foundations, all of whom trust CC&L PCM to steward their wealth.

The company is known for offering a highly personalized, boutique service experience, led by dedicated Wealth Advisors. CC&L PCM remains committed to its original entrepreneurial and collaborative culture, ensuring that client success remains the foundation of their success.

About Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group

Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group ("CC&LFG") is Canada’s largest and fastest growing privately owned asset management firm, providing a broad range of independently managed traditional and alternative investment products and services through a network of 15 affiliates and subsidiaries. CC&LFG’s affiliates collectively manage more than $225 billion in assets for individuals, advisors, and institutional investors.

CC&LFG provides its affiliates with shared strategic, operational, and infrastructure support, allowing each investment team to focus on identifying and managing the investment opportunities that create long-term value for clients. The firm is privately owned and takes a long-term view toward building enterprise value, with no intention of going public or selling the business – a distinguishing feature in the Canadian asset management industry.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Vice President, Investment Strategist will play a leading role in developing and communicating the firm’s investment views, positioning, and outlook to internal stakeholders, while supporting alignment of message and transparency across the investment platform. This individual will design and own PCM’s investment communications strategy, determining the right mix of channels with full latitude to define the approach.

Given the lean resourcing of the function, this is also a hands-on role: the successful candidate will personally build much of the underlying content – charts, dashboards, and written commentary – that the firm’s internal stakeholders rely on. Success will be measured by the value and impact of the information and materials delivered to the team, and the role offers long-term growth potential for an individual who can build credibility and influence across a sophisticated, discerning internal audience.

This role is ideal for a highly analytical and commercially minded investment professional who understands the importance of clear, consistent, and thoughtful communication of the firm’s investment perspectives, and who enjoys connecting macroeconomic research, market insights, and portfolio strategy to deliver meaningful and actionable communication. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative, intellectually curious environment and enjoy translating complex investment concepts into clear, compelling messaging.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and own CC&L PCM’s communications strategy for the firm’s investment views across asset classes, determining the right mix of channels, including regular calls, podcasts, video, and written commentary, with full latitude to design the approach. Act as the primary link between CC&L PCM’s investment teams and its wealth advisory teams, translating market developments, portfolio positioning, and investment results into clear, plain-language communication that builds trust and confidence. Personally build and maintain market and macroeconomic content, including charts, dashboards, and commentary, that Wealth Advisors use directly in conversations with their clients, working in a lean team with limited dedicated support. Develop a broad, credible working knowledge across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, and alternatives sufficient to ask informed questions of CC&L PCM’s affiliates and specialist teams and to represent their views accurately. Participate with CC&L PCM’s Investment Committee in weekly and monthly discussions on portfolio positioning, market themes, and strategy alongside the firm’s senior investment decision-makers. Ensure the investment communication and materials produced deliver tangible value to CC&L PCM’s Wealth Advisors, supporting them with clear, credible information they can use in their own client conversations. Exercise sound judgment and initiative in determining what needs to be communicated, to whom, and how, with the autonomy to design and execute the strategy rather than work from a fixed brief.

Skills and Qualifications

Approximately 10 of experience in investment strategy, macroeconomic research, portfolio management, or a related markets-facing role, with deep, current knowledge of macroeconomics, financial markets, and multi-asset portfolio construction. Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex investment concepts in clear, plain language, with the charisma and narrative ability to build trust and change opinions without relying on formal authority. A track record of building relationships with, and influencing, sophisticated and often skeptical senior stakeholders, with comfort operating in an organization that manages through influence rather than direct authority. Hands-on experience building investment communication materials personally, including charts, dashboards, written commentary, and presentations, rather than relying on a dedicated production team. Strong executive presence and maturity, with the emotional intelligence to build durable, trust-based relationships across a collegial, partnership-oriented culture. Proactive, self-directed, and intellectually curious, comfortable with significant latitude and ambiguity in defining the role’s communication strategy and channels, and effective in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. High attention to detail, with strong organizational and project management skills. Undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline. CFA designation or progress toward completion is strongly preferred.
