As part of the National Architecture – Platforms & Services group, this role supports the operational management, governance, automation, and continuous improvement of enterprise AWS platform capabilities.

We are seeking a Senior AWS Platform Engineer to manage platform-level activities across two AWS Organizations. The role is focused on AWS platform administration, Terraform-led automation, cloud governance, operational reporting, and stakeholder communication. The successful candidate will bring strong technical depth, a self-starter mindset, and the ability to communicate platform status, risks, and recommendations clearly through documentation and stakeholder-ready presentations.

What You Will Do

Manage platform-level activities for two AWS Organizations within the National Architecture – Platforms & Services group. Administer, govern, and evolve enterprise AWS environments, including multi-account structures, account lifecycle patterns, and organization-level controls. Design and maintain Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code standards, reusable modules, and deployment patterns that improve consistency, scalability, and operational reliability. Develop and support automation for AWS account provisioning, cloud configuration, identity controls, networking standards, monitoring, and operational processes. Support cloud governance activities, including platform guardrails, security controls, compliance alignment, tagging standards, and configuration baselines. Partner with architecture, security, operations, application, and business teams to translate requirements into secure and supportable cloud platform capabilities. Monitor platform health, availability, reliability, and operational trends; identify and drive improvements to resiliency, automation, and supportability. Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, automation, deployment, and platform issues, including coordination with internal teams and vendors where required. Produce clear operational reporting on platform activities, risks, progress, adoption, and improvement opportunities. Prepare and present status decks, roadmaps, risks, accomplishments, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholder audiences. Contribute to cloud engineering standards, DevOps practices, platform documentation, and knowledge sharing across the team. Take ownership of assigned outcomes and proactively identify opportunities to improve platform efficiency, cost management, control maturity, and operational effectiveness.

What You Bring To The Role

Extensive hands-on experience administering, engineering, and supporting AWS environments in an enterprise setting. Strong experience working with AWS Organizations, multi-account operating models, and shared cloud platform services. Expert-level Terraform capability, including module design, reusable patterns, remote state, workspace governance, and CI/CD integration. Strong understanding of cloud architecture, networking, identity and access management, logging, monitoring, security, and operational best practices. Ability to work independently as a self-starter while managing multiple priorities and driving work through ambiguity. Strong communication, documentation, stakeholder management, and presentation skills, including the ability to create and deliver status decks to stakeholder groups. Ability to explain technical platform concepts clearly to both technical stakeholders and business-facing audiences. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset. Experience collaborating across architecture, security, engineering, operations, procurement, vendor, and business teams. Bilingual communication skills are strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

AWS Organizations, organizational units, service control policies, account structures, and multi-account governance patterns. Terraform and Terraform Cloud or Terraform Enterprise, including module development, state management, workspace design, policy controls, and pipeline integration. AWS identity, access, and security services such as IAM, IAM Identity Center, CloudTrail, AWS Config, GuardDuty, Security Hub, Systems Manager, and related governance capabilities. AWS networking and connectivity concepts including VPCs, routing, security groups, DNS, private connectivity, VPN, and Direct Connect concepts. CI/CD tooling such as GitHub, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or comparable platforms. Scripting and automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages. Monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, and operational reporting for cloud platform services. Cloud cost management, tagging, policy enforcement, configuration standards, and operational control design. Container, Kubernetes, or broader platform engineering experience is considered an asset. The following certifications would be considered an asset but are not required AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, HashiCorp Terraform Associate or equivalent Terraform certification Additional cloud, security, networking, DevOps, or automation certifications are all considered assets as well but not required.

This position requires written and oral fluency in English. The successful candidate may be required to support or collaborate with English-speaking colleagues or stakeholders while at KPMG. KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information

The expected base salary range for this position is $74,000 - $111,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant’s base salary within this range is based on the individual’s location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
