Overview
A premier golf and resort destination in Ontario is seeking a Controller to join its Finance team. Position Summary
The Controller will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Finance team to deliver accurate financial reporting, timely month-end close processes, and meaningful business insights to support organizational growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Supervise and support accounting staff, including accountants and finance assistants.
Lead annual budgeting initiatives and manage rolling forecasts across departments.
Conduct detailed variance analysis comparing actual results against budgets and forecasts.
Manage cash flow, treasury activities, and working capital requirements.
Ensure compliance with all tax reporting and filing requirements, including corporate taxes, HST, and payroll taxes.
Operations & Internal Controls
Oversee daily revenue auditing and reconciliation activities across multiple revenue streams, including retail, food and beverage, hospitality, and other operational areas.
Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to protect company assets and mitigate risk.
Manage inventory control processes, including regular audits and reconciliations.
Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Business Partnership & Operational Support
Collaborate with department leaders across operations, hospitality, events, food and beverage, and property management.
Develop financial reporting tools, dashboards, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and revenue enhancement.
Support pricing strategies, profitability analysis, and overall business performance initiatives.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional accounting designation preferred.
Experience
Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience.
Previous Leadership Or Supervisory Experience Required.
Experience within hospitality, resort, hotel, golf, recreation, or related industries is considered an asset.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
Experience with hospitality or property management software is highly desirable.
Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills Are Required.
