The Position
Reporting to the Superintendent of Capital within the Finance team. The role is responsible for assisting with the preparation, consolidation, and analysis of finance and capital expenditure information, including month-end reporting, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
As Financial Accountant you will be the focal finance for a site and work collaboratively with finance team members and operational finance partners to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent financial data, while developing strong finance operation processes and reporting requirements.
Also, you will work collaboratively with finance team members and operational finance partners to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent financial data, while developing a strong understanding of capital expenditure and Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) processes and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support with Project AFEs Workflows and creation of Projects Assist with the preparation of monthly Capex reports, including variance analysis and commentary; Support in the preparation of open capex report to site managers Assist your designated site with finance related activities and run cost review meetings. Act as back-up for other Financial Accountant or Finance Analyst where needed. Liaise with operational finance teams to gather financial data and support interpretation of submissions; Support the month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries and completion of account reconciliations; Assist in the preparation of materials for senior management reviews and internal reporting; Support with monthly financial statements, supporting schedules, and analytical reports; Help ensure accuracy and consistency across internal financial reports and supporting schedules; Maintain compliance with established internal controls and assist with documentation updates as required; Support process improvement initiatives and documentation of finance procedures and standards; Assist with the preparation of ad hoc analytical materials and schedules for internal stakeholders and external parties as needed; Participate in system testing and support finance system enhancements or upgrades as a business user; and Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Skills And Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or closely related field required; CPA designation or equivalent preferred; 2 years or more of related work experience in financial reporting, financial planning & analysis (FP&A), audit or related role; Mining experience is an asset, but is not required; Advanced user of Excel (Pivot tables, formulas, graphs, v-lookups, links between spreadsheets); Strong Analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and ability to collaborate cross functionally; Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams; Well-organized, self-motivated, and eager to learn; and Experience with SAP Finance and Project Module preferred Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, particularly during month-end and planning cycles.
