Accountabilities: The Accounting Lead will be responsible for managing client accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and scalability across financial reporting processes. The role requires strong ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both internal teams and startup leaders. Manage relationships with a portfolio of startup clients, serving as a trusted accounting partner and point of contact. Own the preparation, review, and delivery of accurate monthly financial statements and reporting packages for multiple clients. Ensure month-end close activities are completed efficiently, accurately, and according to established timelines. Review accounting work performed by preparers and junior team members to maintain high-quality financial outputs. Train, support, and guide the accounting preparation team to improve processes, accuracy, and client outcomes. Communicate directly with clients through email and collaboration tools to answer questions, collect required information, and resolve accounting issues. Clean, organize, and establish accounting records for newly onboarded clients. Identify opportunities to improve workflows, systems, and operational processes to support scalability. Requirements: The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional with strong financial reporting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment. 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably supporting multiple clients or fast-growing businesses. Strong understanding of month-end close procedures, bookkeeping practices, and financial reporting principles. Experience reviewing and validating the work of bookkeepers, accounting specialists, or junior accountants. Ability to manage multiple priorities and client portfolios while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with founders and business stakeholders. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of processes from start to finish. A proactive mindset with the ability to identify problems, develop solutions, and improve operational efficiency. Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with changing priorities.
