About the Role The position provides accounting and budget services for Harbour Centre Administration, Meeting and Event Services and the Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. Responsibilities for accounting services include receiving and preparing cheques and cash for deposit; drafting and recording journal voucher transactions; recording account payment information; preparing client accounts for invoicing; processing and mailing invoices; and responding to accounts receivable and payable inquiries from clients. The position reconciles and files financial reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, and prepares and submits files in electronic spreadsheet form on a monthly basis. The position is responsible for the monitoring and accurate reporting of a collective revenue of over $5,000,000. The majority of accounting work is performed using the Event Business Management System (EBMS) and Excel. Assists the Administrative Assistant, Harbour Centre Administration, Director, Meeting and Event Services, and the General Manager, Centre for Dialogue, with statistical reports, and with the annual reporting for accounts receivable using both FASBE and EBMS. Actual work performed is divided between the departments of Meeting and Event Services and the Centre for Dialogue with additional work directed as required by Harbour Centre Administration. The position will be required to work from the Harbour Centre campus and the Centre for Dialogue on a regular basis. Full Job Description Qualifications High school graduation and one year of post-secondary education in financial management. 2 years of related experience. Good inter-cultural communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of team. An equivalent combination of formal education, certificate/program of study and experience is acceptable. Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative. Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills. Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Excellent arithmetical skill involving subtraction, addition, multiplication, division, and percentage calculation. Excellent written and verbal communication skill. Ability to use computer programs, including computerized word-processing, databases and spreadsheets (e.g. Excel, Microsoft Word, EBMS) at an intermediate level. Ability to deal courteously with University staff, faculty and the general public. Excellent problem-solving abilities. 55 words per minute keyboarding skills with a high degree of accuracy. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to maintain records with a high degree of accuracy.
