About**the**Position:****
We are seeking a highly skilled accounting leader with strong technical expertise and a collaborative, people - centred approach, passionate about financial stewardship, compliance and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Assistant Secretary Treasurer, the Accounting Manager will play a vital role in day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This position oversees a dedicated team, builds strong relationships with internal and external partners, and helps ensure that financial processes align with the District's strategic vision.
CoreResponsibilities:
- LeadAccounting****Operations : Supervise AP, AR, and cash management, ensuring timely reconciliations and account management.
- MaintainFinancial****Systems : Oversee the general ledger and relevant ERP modules, recommending improvements for efficiency and control.
- Ensure****Compliance : Implement accounting standards, CRA regulations, and District policies; manage annual SOFI, audits, and statutory reporting.
- Reporting******& ******Analysis : Oversee monthly and annual closes, prepare financial statements, and provide analysis to support decision-making.
- Stakeholder****Collaboration : Coordinate with school and department leaders, delivering clear financial guidance and support.
- Team****Leadership : Hire, train, and develop accounting staff, promoting continuous learning and high
performance.
SalaryRange: $98,831 to $123,539. Total rewards package includes competitive salary, benefits, pension and professional development opportunities.

You bring extensive experience in accounting, financial reporting, and team leadership, with a strong ability to manage complex financial processes and foster a positive work environment.
Qualifications:****
- Post-secondary degree in finance or a related field.
- Professional accounting designation (CPA-CA, CGA, or CMA).
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance in a large, complex, multi-location organization; K-12 or public sector experience is an asset .
- Training and experience in supervision of staff, preferably in an excluded role working with unionized employees.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, audit practices, internal controls, and CRA regulations.
- Proficiency in ERP financial systems (implementation, maintenance, and enhancement), as well as advanced data analysis and reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and standard business applications.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills, with the ability to build effective teams, communicate across all levels, solve problems, multitask, and work independently while prioritizing tasks effectively.
