About Stone River Group (SRG)

Stone River Group (SRG) is a Canadian group of companies providing construction and project services in partnership with Indigenous communities. The group operates a portfolio of related businesses that together deliver comprehensive project support from inception to completion. With a team boasting over 150 years of combined experience, we are committed to fostering strong relationships, delivering high-quality projects, and supporting sustainable growth across the communities we serve.

SRG works on a broad range of projects with our Indigenous partners across Western Canada. Current projects include a 550 unit off reserve development, 110 homes on reserve housing, a 72 unit mixed-use development, a cultural gathering centre, an outdoor school, and small office buildings. To support our growing operations, SRG also leverages a dedicated offshore office that works as an integrated extension of our Canadian team.

Position Overview

SRG is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to lead the operational accounting function across the SRG group of companies, including direct oversight of the finances of two sister companies that operate alongside SRG.

This is fundamentally an operational accounting role. We are not looking for an auditor ? we are looking for a hands-on accounting leader who understands that accounting exists to support the business, enable better decisions, and keep the wheels turning. Reporting to senior leadership, the Accounting Manager will own the full-cycle accounting function, lead the month-end close, deliver timely and meaningful financial reporting, and partner with project and operations leaders to keep the business running smoothly.

The Accounting Manager will work closely with, and provide day-to-day direction to, our offshore accounting team, treating them as a fully integrated part of the finance function. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring financial integrity across all entities in the group, providing leadership with practical, decision-ready financial information, and helping shape the systems, controls, and processes that support SRG's continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day operational accounting function across SRG and its two sister companies, ensuring consistent practices and accurate consolidated reporting.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process across all group entities, including journal entries, intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Prepare timely and decision-ready financial statements and management reporting packages for each entity and on a consolidated basis.
  • Manage and work closely with the offshore accounting team ? setting priorities, reviewing work, coaching, and integrating them as a core part of the finance function.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop the broader accounting team, ensuring balanced workload, quality of work, and professional growth.
  • Partner with project managers, development leads, and operations on cost tracking, project margin reporting, and financial issues that affect day-to-day execution.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning across the group, in coordination with senior leadership.
  • Prepare variance analyses and provide practical, business-focused commentary to support decision-making.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and general ledger activities across all entities.
  • Maintain and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures appropriate for a multi-entity, project-based business.
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE) and all applicable tax filings (GST, PST, corporate tax, payroll, T-slips, T2s, etc.) for each entity in the group.
  • Manage external relationships with auditors, accountants, bank
