Intermediate Accountant
About the role
Career opportunity: We currently have a career opportunity for an Intermediate Accountant to join our Finance team located at our head office in Vancouver, BC. This role is a key contributor within the Finance team, supporting the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting, commission processes and working papers. You will work closely with Finance team members and cross-functional stakeholders to develop a well-rounded understanding of the organization’s accounting process, controls and month-end deliverables. We are looking for a detail-oriented, accountable, and results-driven candidate who can thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key responsibilities: Prepare and reconcile monthly commission and expenses for commission-based employees and respond to related inquiries and requests Record journal entries and maintain working papers for Harbourfront group and its subsidiary companies Support the month-end close process, including reconciliations, variance follow-ups and other deliverables Assist in the preparation of monthly internal financial statements and regulatory filings Prepare and maintain documents and reports for year-end audit and other external audits Identify opportunities to streamline recurring tasks and improve documentation quality Support the Finance team in contributing to department projects, goals and other ad hoc tasks as assigned
The ideal candidate for this position has: A bachelor’s degree or diploma in accounting or financial management Working toward a CPA designation is an asset Minimum 2 years experience in a finance or accountancy role; Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office programs Sage Intacct or other enterprise-level accounting software experience is an asset Experience working in the financial services industry is an asset Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong time management skills to meet tight deadlines Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Salary Range: $70,000- $80,000 per annum (actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience, and internal parity).
