Why Join Us
Golden Life Management is a family-owned leader in seniors' living and care, operating retirement and care villages across British Columbia and Alberta. Founded in Cranbrook over 25 years ago, our mission is rooted in family, dignity, and independence — providing compassionate, welcoming communities where residents can truly thrive. Our villages offer a continuum of care including Independent Living, Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, Memory Care, and Respite Care, supported by exceptional hospitality and a passionate team.
Our corporate office is based in Cranbrook, BC — the heart of the beautiful East Kootenay region — where our Finance & Administration team supports operations across our growing network of communities.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Accounting Manager to join our Finance & Administration team. This is a key leadership role within our organization, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a purpose-driven company that genuinely cares about its people — both residents and staff.
In this role, you will provide direct leadership to a team of seven accounting experts across accounts payable, revenue collection, and payroll. You will work collaboratively with the finance leadership team — reporting to the Chief Financial Officer — to uphold the integrity of our financial operations, deliver meaningful internal reporting, and build accounting capability across the organization.
What You'll Do
-
Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of seven across accounts payable, revenue collection, and payroll — setting expectations, managing performance, and fostering a culture of accountability and growth.
-
Work collaboratively with the finance leadership team to ensure alignment on financial strategy, reporting priorities, and organizational goals.
-
Conduct regular process audits across all accounting functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement — developing corrective action plans where needed.
-
Design and deliver training for new accounting staff, as well as ongoing finance education for managers and administrators across the Golden Life’s locations.
-
Oversee the full accounts payable cycle.
-
Oversee revenue collection and accounts receivable monitoring.
-
Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing.
-
Maintain and enforce internal controls to protect organizational assets and financial data integrity.
-
Liaise with external auditors and provide documentation and support as required.
What You Bring
Education & Credentials
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- CPA designation (or active pursuit) is a strong asset.
Experience
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Hands-on experience across accounts payable, revenue/AR, and payroll.
- Background in seniors' living, multi-site operations, or a hospitality environment is an asset.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with accounting software — experience with Great Plains and/or QuickBooks Desktop is preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, with advanced Excel ability; Power BI or similar reporting tools are a plus.
- Familiarity with HRIS or payroll platforms is an advantage.
Personal Strengths
-
A people-first leader who coaches, motivates, and develops team members.
-
Analytically strong — you can review tasks, understand the processes driving them, and explain them clearly to both finance and non-finance audiences.
-
A process improvement mindset — you look for smarter ways to do things and build systems that last.
-
High integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial and employee information.
-
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
What We Offer
-
Competitive salary of $72,000–$88,000, commensurate with experience.
-
A meaningful role in a purpose-driven, family-owned organization dedicated to seniors' care.
