Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join a leading global automotive manufacturing organization. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and enjoys partnering with business leaders to drive financial performance, strengthen reporting processes, and support strategic decision-making. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, cost analysis, and process improvement while providing valuable financial insights to senior leadership.
What you'll be doing? Partner with the Controller and General Manager to provide financial analysis and business insights that support strategic decision-making and improve profitability. Prepare, review, and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements while ensuring compliance with corporate reporting requirements. Lead month-end and year-end close activities, manage the general ledger, and analyze financial results, variances, and key performance indicators. Coordinate the annual budgeting and forecasting process, providing recommendations to improve financial performance and operational efficiency. Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory, and cost variances to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Establish, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls, financial processes, and reporting systems. Partner with department managers to review financial performance and provide actionable recommendations. Support external audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and corporate policies. Supervise and mentor members of the finance team, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Accounting. Drive continuous improvement initiatives through Lean/Kaizen principles and support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis.
Must-Haves: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA designation (CPA, CA, CMA, or CGA) or MBA preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience within a manufacturing environment. Strong SAP ERP experience in a manufacturing setting. Experience with financial reporting, consolidations, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; experience with Power BI is considered a strong asset. Strong understanding of manufacturing cost accounting, internal controls, and financial analysis. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
