About the role

Chief Financial Officer

We are looking for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to join a high-growth North American organization entering its next phase of expansion. This executive leadership role is ideal for a strategic and operational finance leader who thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments while bringing the discipline and sophistication gained from larger, complex organizations.

The successful candidate will partner closely with the executive leadership team to scale the business, strengthen financial infrastructure, enhance reporting capabilities, and support long-term growth initiatives across Canada and the United States. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring exceptional attention to detail, strong business acumen, and the ability to build scalable financial processes without losing sight of operational excellence.

Responsibilities: Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team, providing financial insight that supports business growth and long-term value creation. Develop and execute the organization's financial strategy, capital planning, and operational finance initiatives. Lead all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial modeling, and performance analysis. Elevate executive reporting by delivering timely, accurate, and meaningful financial insights, dashboards, KPIs, and board-level reporting. Oversee all accounting functions, including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury, taxation, and general ledger. Ensure the integrity of financial statements and compliance with Canadian and US accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations. Strengthen internal controls, governance, risk management, and financial policies while supporting a rapidly scaling organization. Lead ERP implementation, optimization, or modernization initiatives that improve operational efficiency and reporting capabilities. Build scalable financial systems and processes capable of supporting continued domestic and international growth. Partner with operational leaders to improve profitability, financial visibility, and business performance across the organization. Provide leadership during periods of rapid organizational growth, ensuring finance remains a proactive business partner rather than simply a reporting function. Develop, mentor, and inspire a high-performing finance and accounting team while building future leadership within the department. Build strong relationships with external auditors, banking partners, investors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications: CPA designation (Canada) required. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline. 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including executive-level finance responsibilities. Proven success leading finance within a rapidly growing organization that has experienced significant revenue and operational scale. Experience working within complex organizations, ideally publicly traded or private equity-backed companies. Strong knowledge of both Canadian and US accounting standards, tax considerations, and cross-border financial operations. Demonstrated excellence in executive reporting, board reporting, financial analysis, and business intelligence. Experience supporting an IPO, public company reporting environment, capital markets activity, or significant corporate transactions is considered a strong asset. Experience supporting international or multi-jurisdictional operations. Experience within highly regulated industries or organizations operating through complex sales, distribution, or partner networks. Proven ability to influence executive decision-making through data-driven insights. Demonstrated success leading organizational change while maintaining strong financial controls. Outstanding leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.

What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is a strategic finance executive with the operational expertise to lead in a high-growth environment. You are equally adept at partnering with executive leadership and Boards, delivering sophisticated financial analysis and reporting, developing high-performing teams, and implementing scalable processes that support sustainable growth.

You have successfully guided organizations through periods of rapid expansion and bring the discipline and best practices gained from larger, complex organizations. You lead with integrity, sound business judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and a hands-on approach to solving complex financial and operational challenges.

Location Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Occasional travel within North America may be expected.

Salary Range - $250,000 - $350,000/yr
