RBC Capital Markets Global Investment Banking division is seeking a Vice President to join the Syndicated & Leveraged Finance (“SLF”) team in Toronto. The SLF team works collaboratively with colleagues across the Investment Bank in Canada, the U.S. and globally to support the financing of various types of transactions. This position is a unique opportunity to broaden your financial skillset, deepen your understanding of various credit markets and gain exposure to global capital markets. What will you do? Lead financial analysis and due diligence in the context of originating, structuring, and executing credit related financing transactions (including LBOs) Train, mentor, and supervise junior team members on day-to-day deliverables Interpret credit market themes relevant to RBC’s corporate and financial sponsor clients and synthesize these for the benefit of a client or deal team Take execution ownership of syndicated loan financings backing corporate M&A, LBOs, project financings, and general corporate purposes Assist with preparation of pitch & advisory presentations, responses to RFPs, and other ad-hoc market research Review and contribute to marketing materials and other documentation for credit related financing transactions including lender presentations Collaborate with colleagues across corporate and investment banking coverage and product groups to deliver holistic financing solutions Establish working relationships with bank investors and other market participants to gather market intelligence and optimize transaction execution What do you need to succeed? Minimum 5 years of experience in investment banking, leveraged finance, private equity, equity research, corporate development, or accounting University degree, preferably in business/commerce, economics, “STEM” or other relevant disciplines A desire to learn and a team-oriented mindset Demonstrated superior track record in academic and professional endeavors A clearly defined interest in investment banking and financial markets, and basic knowledge of market structure and themes Strong computer skills, including high proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint Quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling skills Adept written and verbal communication and data visualization skills Ability to work well under pressure with multiple deadlines while maintaining careful attention to detail Flexibility in schedule to meet client deadlines Desire to develop a leadership skillset and make meaningful contributions in a fast-paced, team environment CFA, CPA, P.Eng. or other relevant professional designations are considered an asset but not a requirement From this opportunity you will: Gain experience working in a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performing team at the #1 Investment Bank in Canada Gain exposure and insight into the global capital markets Develop an in-depth understanding of different credit markets, including the Bank Market, U.S. Term Loan B, and High Yield markets Develop further fundamental investment banking skills such as financial modeling and analysis, transaction execution and negotiation, and in-depth industry and product knowledge Work directly with senior levels of Canada's largest and fastest growing companies Make a difference through impactful transactions which help shape an industry Cultivate peers who will help you develop a network and create long-term relationships Partner with senior team members who are committed to your development and who will invest time in coaching and mentoring Build leadership skills through coaching and mentoring of junior team members Gain an appreciation for the importance of giving back your community as part of the many initiatives of RBC's Celebration of Impact Be exposed to future opportunities to work in other global offices What’s in it for you?
