Financial Analyst
About the role

The Finance & Economic Development Department is looking for a regular full-time Financial Analyst. You will be responsible for accounting work of a technical and complex nature for the City and related entities, specifically:
General accounting transactions, account reconciliations and analysis; Various financial, management, grant and governmental statements and reporting; Supporting the annual and interim external audits; Ensuring the timely preparation and submission of regulatory, statutory and other required filings and remittances. Supporting divisional processes to maintain internal controls and operational efficiency; Supporting the lifecycle of external deposits, securities and recoveries; Evaluating and updating various data and processes needed to support financial reporting; Providing guidance and direction on accounting procedures and problems; Supporting the implementation of new and/or revised financial systems and integrations with these systems; Other related duties as required.
You will also liaise with departments to provide guidance on financial accounting and reporting issues, explain financial information and prepare financial reports and related materials for management, Council and the public.
Your knowledge of full cycle accounting, ability to deal with complex transactions and reconciliations, ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines, together with your proven interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships will ensure success in this position.
Enrollment in or completion of the CPA Designation, supplemented by sound related accounting experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge.
Salary: $41.93 to $49.35 per hour (Pay Grade 22 – 2026 rates)
Hours of Work: The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
