About the role
We're looking for a Data Engineer with strong Python and SQL Server expertise to build and maintain ETL pipelines and reporting solutions for a major Canadian bank in downtown Toronto. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across the full data lifecycle from extraction and transformation through to Tableau dashboard delivery and stakeholder reporting.
What You'll Do
Develop ETL pipelines using Python to extract data from APIs, Excel files, databases, and other source systems Load and manage data in SQL Server databases Develop and optimize stored procedures, views, functions, and SQL queries Implement data transformation, validation, and business rules within SQL Server Create and maintain Tableau dashboards, reports, and visualizations Ensure data quality, integrity, and performance across the data pipeline Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reporting solutions Support production deployments, troubleshooting, and ongoing enhancements
What You Bring
Strong Python development experience with a focus on ETL pipeline development Solid SQL Server skills including stored procedures, views, functions, and query optimization Hands-on experience with Tableau for dashboard development and reporting Experience integrating data from REST APIs, Excel, CSV, and other source systems Strong understanding of data transformation, validation, and analytics reporting Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills Eligibility for a mandatory background check
Nice to have
Experience in banking or financial services data environments Familiarity with data governance and data quality frameworks Prior experience supporting production data pipelines in a regulated environment
Work setup
Hybrid in downtown Toronto, ON 3 days onsite, 2 days remote In-person client interview required at the downtown Toronto location 12 month contract English proficiency required
