Harbor is currently looking for a Staff Accountant (not an existing vacancy) for our office located at 900 Main Street in Moncton, New Brunswick. This is a permanent, full-time position, based on 40 hours per week. Work hours will be from 9:00am until 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. Further information respecting the position can be found below. Responsibilities: As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting activities, with a focus on the Accounts Payable (“AP”) department. Duties include the following: Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, process maps, and workflow documentation. Supporting initiatives to streamline workflows, automate invoice processing, and enhance internal controls, and identifying opportunities for process improvement and assisting in implementing enhancements. Overseeing and coordinating daily activities of the AP team, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data in the general ledger and ERP system, as well as providing ongoing guidance to maintain service quality and productivity. Reviewing and maintaining financial records, conducting account analyses, and preparing financial statements and reports. Examining account reconciliations for the company’s bank accounts and intercompany transactions and investigating any variances. Overseeing the expense reimbursement audit process, ensuring adherence to company policies and identifying discrepancies or non-compliant claims. Completing month-end close activities, including adjusting entries, conducting account analyses, and reporting key financial information, with a primary focus on P&L variance analysis. Performing annual compliances and year-end closing processes. Managing the administration of the expense management platform (Concur). Resolving escalated issues related to invoice discrepancies, payment delays, vendor inquiries, and banking transactions. Participating in the recruitment, training, onboarding, and performance evaluation of AP team. Qualifications: We are looking for candidates who meet the following minimum requirements: Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in commerce, accounting, finance, or a related field. At least 3 years of accounting and/or bookkeeping experience. At least 2 years of accounts payable experience. At least 1 year of supervisory and people management experience. Proven ability to lead AP integration efforts for newly acquired entities, including system transitions and process standardization as we are a highly acquisitive company. Demonstrated experience working with high-volume, multi-currency data in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Prior experience working with NetSuite ERP and BILL.com. Proven proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills. Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI and Workday. Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively. Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills. Self-motivated and proactive Team player who takes initiative and contributes to continuous improvement. Able to work under deadlines in a performance-driven environment.
