Role Description The Financial Controller is a full-time, hybrid role based in Toronto, ON, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for day-to-day full cycle accounting operations, including managing general ledger activities, preparing and reviewing financial statements, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. The Financial Controller will own and monitor full cycle accounting and financial reporting, cash flow, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide analytical insights to support strategic decision-making for clients. They will maintain internal controls, support audits, ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and continuously refine processes and reporting using data-driven approaches. The role also involves collaborating with internal teams and client stakeholders to explain financial performance, address issues, and contribute to long-term financial planning. Qualifications Very strong foundation in Accounting and Full Cycle Accounting, including general ledger management and deep expertise in accounting principles and standards, sales tax, EHT, WSIB, and payroll. Experience preparing and reviewing Financial Statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Expertise in Finance and Financial Reporting, with the ability to produce accurate, timely reports for internal and external stakeholders. Advanced Analytical Skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights. Proficiency with financial software, ERP systems, and spreadsheets; comfort working with data and AI-enhanced tools is an asset. Relevant professional designation (e.g., CPA or equivalent) and a bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. Experience in a controller or senior accounting/finance role, preferably supporting multiple clients or fast-growing businesses. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
