About the role
Tax Technician / Bookkeeper We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Tax Technician / Bookkeeper to join our growing team. This role is ideal for an individual with foundational accounting and bookkeeping experience who is looking to develop their expertise in tax compliance, trust accounting, and client service within a professional environment.
Key Responsibilities Perform basic bookkeeping functions and prepare bank reconciliations and bank synoptics for trusts and estates Maintain accurate financial records and support day-to-day accounting activities Prepare responses to inquiries and requests from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), including corporate and personal tax processing reviews and audit inquiries Prepare basic Canadian personal income tax returns (T1) Prepare T4 and T5 information slips and related filings Assist with the preparation of tax election forms, including: Capital dividend elections Elections related to the transfer of property to Canadian corporations Support tax compliance and filing deadlines by maintaining organized documentation and records Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather required financial and tax information Assist with additional accounting, bookkeeping, and tax-related administrative tasks as required
Qualifications & Experience Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or a related financial role Basic understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices Experience with Canadian personal tax return preparation is considered a strong asset Experience responding to CRA correspondence or inquiries is an asset Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel Experience with QuickBooks Online is considered an asset Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping, business administration, or a related field is preferred An accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is not required Relevant practical experience and a willingness to learn are highly valued
