About the role
Priority to New Grads + 4th Year University Students
Company Description Upgraded helps software, hardware, and venture-backed startups uncover tax credits, grants, technology savings, and other overlooked financial opportunities. The company focuses on four main pillars: government programs and grants, AI solutions and automations, tech savings, and inexpensive financing. By combining these pillars, Upgraded unlocks significant working capital and cost savings, often amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars for clients. The organization operates on a fully performance-based model, working only with clients where substantial savings are likely and earning fees only when clients realize results. This alignment of incentives creates a results-driven environment that emphasizes measurable financial impact.
Role Description The Associate Grants & Strategy Consultant is a full-time, remote role supporting clients in identifying, assessing, and securing grants, tax credits, and related financial opportunities. In this position, the consultant conducts detailed research into government programs, funding sources, and incentive structures relevant to startup and growth-stage companies. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing client financials and operations, preparing structured recommendations and reports, and supporting the development of strategies across grants, AI-enabled efficiencies, tech savings, and financing options. The role involves collaborating with senior consultants and client stakeholders, organizing data and documentation for applications, and helping manage project timelines and deliverables. The consultant also contributes to internal process improvements, knowledge management, and the refinement of Upgraded’s performance-based service offerings.
Qualifications Strong Analytical Skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, operational metrics, and program requirements. Experience in Consulting or Management Consulting, preferably with startups, technology companies, or finance-related projects. Excellent Communication skills, including clear written reports, structured presentations, and professional client interactions. Foundational understanding of Finance, such as corporate finance basics, funding structures, and ROI or cost-benefit analysis. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Comfort working remotely with distributed teams, managing time independently, and using digital collaboration tools. Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough research on government programs, grants, and incentives; prior exposure to grant writing or applications is a plus. Interest in technology, AI solutions, and startup ecosystems, with curiosity about optimizing operations and costs. High level of integrity and commitment to a performance-based, outcomes-focused client service model.
