About The Role
The Senior Accountant at KARL STORZ Endoscopy - America plays a critical role in supporting the company's financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with accounting standards, and continuous process improvements. This position involves managing month-end and year-end closing activities, conducting detailed financial analysis, and preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders. The Senior Accountant will serve as the Accounting Lead for a North American legal entity, acting as the primary point of contact for financial inquiries, reviewing results, and providing insightful commentary to management. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented finance professional to contribute to a dynamic organization while leading initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience, with at least two years in a public accounting environment preferred. A bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting or a related field is required. The candidate should demonstrate a strong understanding of financial accounting principles, GAAP, and general ledger transactions. Technical proficiency in Excel is essential, along with experience in implementing process improvements and internal controls. Familiarity with core accounting concepts and the ability to perform GAAP research to support technical memos are highly valued. Candidates should also have excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and lead projects effectively.
Responsibilities
Prepare and post journal entries accurately and timely to ensure financial data integrity. Reconcile accounts, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records. Generate comprehensive financial analysis and management commentary to support decision-making processes. Identify opportunities for process improvements, streamline workflows, and enhance internal controls to increase efficiency and accuracy. Coordinate with external auditors by preparing and providing necessary documentation and schedules for audits. Develop and distribute recurring financial reports and deliverables to relevant stakeholders. Document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for key accounting processes, including journal entries and reconciliations. Lead assigned projects, ensuring timely completion and effective implementation of improvements. Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to Staff Accountants, fostering a collaborative team environment. Conduct training sessions for team members on accounting procedures and best practices as needed. Perform research on technical accounting issues to support the development of memos and policies. Utilize available tools and technology to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and automation of accounting processes.
