Canadian Tax Manager
About the role
Our client, a growing firm providing integrated accounting, tax, and legal services to Canadian and US clients ranging from small owner-managed enterprises to large private organizations, trusts, and partnerships, requires a Canadian Tax Manager to join their Calgary team. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside some of Canada's top tax professionals in a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
You will prepare and review complex tax returns (T1, T2, T3, T5013), elections, and regulatory filings (T1134, T106). Responsibilities include tax-centric compilation engagements, identifying client opportunities, conducting in-depth tax research with written memos, and presenting trending tax topics internally and externally. You will manage client deliverables, liaise directly with tax authorities and legal teams, collaborate with the US tax team on cross-border issues, and develop innovative tax planning strategies. Additionally, you will oversee engagement teams, mentor junior staff, and assist in managing personal and trust tax compliance seasons.
The ideal candidate holds a Canadian CPA designation with 5+ years of relevant tax experience. Completion or near completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Program or a Master's in Taxation is required. You are organized, able to manage multiple priorities, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. A team player who takes initiative and is eager to learn and collaborate with accountants, lawyers, and tax professionals.
