Role Description The Controller is a full-time, on-site role based in Edmonton, AB. This position oversees all aspects of financial management, including general ledger maintenance, month-end and year-end closing, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The Controller monitors cash flow, prepares variance analyses, and provides financial insights to support strategic and operational decision-making. Daily responsibilities include supervising accounting processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and inventory costing, as well as ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls. The role collaborates closely with senior leadership and operations teams, supports audits, and contributes to continuous improvement of financial systems and procedures. Qualifications Strong financial accounting and reporting skills, including general ledger management, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management in a manufacturing or industrial environment Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and advanced spreadsheet skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel) Knowledge of cost accounting, inventory valuation, and standard costing or job costing methodologies Understanding of tax regulations, compliance requirements, and internal control frameworks Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders Demonstrated leadership, team supervision, and cross-functional collaboration experience Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) preferred Prior experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role, ideally within manufacturing or a similar production-focused organization
