As a member of our accounting team, the Fixed Asset Accountant assists in supporting capital expenditures and fixed assets, handling the ad hoc reporting, and analyzing the capital assets and projects. They are also responsible for conducting the transactional processing, performing the month end activities and doing all the account reconciliation work. While doing these duties, they ensure that it is in compliance with the professional legal practices and standards, and also with the organization's policies and procedures. The individual in this position will work closely with the Finance Manager and other personnel in the Wolseley finance team members located in Burlington Ontario. What’s in it for you? Bonus programs that include annual performance and profit sharing Employee discounts on top brands Education reimbursement for employees Employee referral program Safety shoe reimbursement What you will do: Ensures that all capital & intangible asset transactions are properly accounted for and maintained in the General Ledger Administrative coordination of all capital & lease approvals and preparation of all related reporting, including budgeting and forecasting Provides support to other departments regarding appropriate accounting treatment of capital projects Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting Ensures all accounting activity is following internal and external regulations and requirements and assists with gathering information for audits Prepares journal entries as needed to complete specifically assigned functions What you will bring: Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance, CGA or CPA preferred Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance Strong working knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP Experience with a large portfolio of fixed assets and experience with lease accounting (IFRS 16). Exposure to a SOX compliant environment Knowledge of PeopleSoft, AS400, Tableau, Hyperion and Oracle ERP considered an asset Strong proficiency with Excel Highly attentive to detail Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment Fluency in French and English considered an asset Each resume submitted gets individually reviewed by our team and retained for 24 months if other new and exciting opportunities arise that match your skills and qualifications.
