Job Title: Payment Business Systems Analyst (Payment BSA) Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) Duration: Long-Term Contract Rate: CAD50-CAD55/hr
Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Payment Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support strategic payment modernization and business transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in payment systems, business analysis, data analysis, and stakeholder management, with a solid understanding of end-to-end payment processing and industry standards such as SWIFT, Fed Payments, and ISO 20022. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, technology teams, and vendors to gather requirements, analyze business processes, support solution design, and ensure successful delivery throughout the SDLC.
Key Responsibilities Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements for payment-related initiatives. Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technology teams, ensuring requirements are clearly understood and delivered. Support projects involving payment systems, payment modernization, and regulatory changes. Analyze payment processing workflows and identify opportunities for process improvements and automation. Create and maintain business requirements documents (BRDs), functional specifications, process flows, user stories, and test scenarios. Perform data analysis and validation using SQL to support business requirements, testing, and production issue investigations. Utilize reporting and analytics tools to generate insights, monitor trends, and support decision-making. Participate in solution design discussions and collaborate with architects, developers, QA teams, and project managers. Support UAT planning, execution, defect resolution, and implementation activities. Facilitate stakeholder meetings, workshops, and requirements review sessions. Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst or Business Analyst within the Banking or Financial Services industry. Strong knowledge of payment systems and payment processing. Experience working with: SWIFT Fed Payments ISO 20022 Wire Payments Real-Time Payments (preferred) Strong SQL skills with experience performing complex data analysis and data validation. Experience using reporting and analytics tools for business analysis and operational reporting. Strong understanding of business process modeling and requirements management. Experience working through all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Knowledge of Agile and Scrum delivery methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications Experience with payment modernization programs or transformation initiatives. Exposure to Canadian or North American payment systems. Experience supporting regulatory, compliance, or operational risk initiatives. Knowledge of API integrations and payment ecosystem architecture.
