Role Description The Accounting Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Arnprior, ON. The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, job costing, budgeting, and cash flow monitoring. Duties include tracking construction costs, managing homeowner deposits and closing transactions, and delivers financial insight that supports profitability and growth. The Accounting Manager will manage fixed asset records, support budgeting and forecasting, and perform regular financial analysis to guide business decisions. Responsibilities also include maintaining internal controls, coordinating with external accountants or auditors, and supporting leadership with financial reporting and compliance activities. The role involves collaborating closely with other departments to ensure accurate project costing and overall financial health of the company.

Key Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; manage close processes, account reconciliations, and budgets/forecasts. Maintain job costing for active construction projects, analyze lot-level profitability and margins, and track budget-to-actual variances. Prepare cash flow forecasts, coordinate banking and construction financing draws, and monitor customer deposits and trust balances. Oversee accounts payable/receivable, payroll processing and compliance, and employee benefits administration. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, HST filings, internal controls, and Tarion/regulatory requirements. Supervise and mentor direct reporting staff; drive process improvement and collaboration across construction, purchasing, and sales.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in homebuilding, construction, or real estate development. Experience with job costing, ERP/accounting systems, and advanced Excel. Prior supervisory or management experience. Ability to prepare, review, and interpret Financial Statements with strong Finance knowledge. Proficiency in recording and reconciling Journal Entries (Accounting) and managing Fixed Assets. Strong Analytical Skills to perform variance analysis, project costing, and financial reporting. Demonstrated experience in accounting management or senior accounting roles, preferably in construction or real estate development. Knowledge of relevant Canadian accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal control best practices. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively on-site with cross-functional teams.
