Position Overview
The Senior Analyst or Specialist Provision & Risk Measurement plays an important role in supporting core credit risk Expected Credit Loss (ECL) provisioning and Economic Capital activities by assisting in the preparation of datasets, running standardized model routines, and performing initial validation checks. This role contributes to quarterly and year-end ECL and Economic Capital deliverables by completing defined tasks with accuracy and ensuring results are clearly documented.
The Senior Analyst helps support IFRS 9 compliance by assisting with macroeconomic data updates, scenario files, SICR inputs, and internal control documentation. They contribute to the team by performing analytical tasks, contributing to presentations and maintaining organized documentation.
The role also contributes to monitoring activities for the indirect lending program, gathering benchmark information, and preparing preliminary materials for planning and reporting. The Senior Analyst produces clear, concise summaries that support internal stakeholders and contributes to the team’s documentation standards.
CHALLENGES TO BE MET
Prepare and reconcile datasets required for Provisioning and Economic Capital processes. Execute established model routines and perform quality control checks on outputs. Investigate routine data issues and escalate exceptions requiring further analysis. Support the preparation of quarterly and annual expected credit loss provisioning deliverables through data analysis and documentation activities. Maintain process documentation and audit trails in accordance with team standards. Prepare presentations and benchmarking analyses that support management reporting and stakeholder discussions. Support testing activities related to model enhancements, system changes, and methodology implementations. Work collaboratively with partners across Risk, Finance, Validation, and Technology to gather information and address operational requirements.
What We Are Looking For
University degree in quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Finance. Minimum of five years of relevant experience in an analytical role. Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to assess data quality and identify inconsistencies. Knowledge of IFRS9 requirements, including ECL modelling components, SICR assessment, and documentation standards. Understanding of economic capital and stress testing concepts. Ability to execute established analytical procedures and document results accurately and thoroughly. Proficiency in data extraction and analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, Python, or equivalent analytical platforms. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality documentation and controls. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize analytical findings for diverse audiences. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines. Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and seek guidance when required. Bilingualism (English and French).
