The Financial Systems and Controls Lead will play a vital role to serve as the financial leader for our new FMD Canada headquarters and partner directly with the General Manager and business leadership to drive financial performance, operational excellence, and profitable growth across a complex manufacturing and government contracting environment. Additionally, this role will support the continued implementations and continuous system improvement of INFOR LN ERP system implementations within the FMD Handling business. This role will be key in defining business requirements, participating in solution design, validating financial processes, supporting testing, data migration, and user acceptance testing (UAT), training for finance on the tool and related process, and post go-live provide stabilization support. This role will play a key cross functional support role at the FMD Canada site, and across other international locations in the Handling division to closely partner with IT, Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and external implementation teams to ensure the ERP solution supports and maintains business objectives, and financial reporting requirements. As the finance lead for FMD Canada this role will lead all aspects of financial planning and analysis, accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, revenue recognition, working capital management, and business performance. Beyond ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, this leader will provide actionable financial insights that influence operational decisions, improve profitability and cash flow, support strategic investments, and enhance enterprise value. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Key Financial Control Responsibilities Serve as the senior financial leader and trusted business partner to the General Manager and site leadership team. Lead all financial planning activities, including the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), monthly forecasts, long-range strategic planning, and five-year business planning. Provide timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting, analysis, and business performance metrics for the site and into the division, to enable informed decision-making. Lead monthly close activities, including financial statement preparation, general ledger oversight, account reconciliations, and variance analysis. Own revenue recognition under ASC 606, including oversight of Estimate-at-Complete (EAC) processes and percentage-of-completion accounting. Develop executive-level financial presentations and communicate financial performance, business drivers, risks, and opportunities to leadership. Partner with operations, engineering, supply chain, and program management to improve profitability, operational efficiency, and EBITDA performance. Lead proposal pricing, cost estimating, and financial support for new business opportunities while ensuring competitive and compliant pricing strategies. Drive capital investment analysis, business case development, capital approval processes, and post-investment performance monitoring. Lead initiatives to improve working capital through effective management of inventory, receivables, contract assets, billing, and cash flow. Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), internal controls, and corporate financial policies, as required. Lead internal and external audits while maintaining a strong control environment. Supervise: recruit, develop, mentor, and lead finance team focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Foster strong cross-functional partnerships while promoting a culture of operational excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, business integration activities, and other enterprise priorities as required. Business Systems Implementation Responsibilities Lead and manage financial responsibilities for the INFOR LN ERP system pre-work, implementation, and support of the FMD LN Implementation team. Able to identify and execute integration strategies for ERP system with required business practices and represent finance in business process optimization. Collaborate with departments to identify requirements and ensure the ERP system meets operational needs. Will provide the financial lens on system upgrades, and integration with other enterprise applications as it relates to each site. Ensure data integrity and assist the IT led ERP implementation team with roles, system security, and regulatory compliance as required for finance or in conjunction with the office of Government Compliance in Finance. Champion process improvements, automation initiatives, and ERP optimization to increase efficiency and improve financial visibility. Training: Provide financial transacting guidance and support – through training, and support for end-users Qualifications and Educational Requirements Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related business discipline. CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred. Minimum of 12 years of progressive finance and accounting experience with increasing leadership responsibility. Minimum of 8 years supporting manufacturing operations in a finance leadership role. Demonstrated experience leading financial planning, forecasting, financial reporting, and business performance analysis. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, and percentage-of-completion accounting. Working knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Acquisition Regulations Supplement (DFARS), and government contracting principles. Experience leading the monthly accounting close process and maintaining a strong internal control environment. Previous experience leading and developing finance professionals. Advanced analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and executive presentation skills with the ability to influence cross-functional leaders. Desired Qualifications Experience within the defense, aerospace, naval, or industrial manufacturing industries. Experience supporting U.S. Government contracts, including DCAA/DCMA compliance environments. Experience with ERP implementation, optimization, or business systems transformation. Experience with INFOR ERP Systems Experience leading finance within project-based, engineer-to-order, or contract manufacturing environments. Strong understanding of program finance, Estimate-at-Complete (EAC) methodologies, and project profitability analysis. Demonstrated success improving working capital, cash flow, inventory management, and operational performance. Experience supporting private equity-backed organizations with a focus on EBITDA improvement, operational excellence, and value creation. Six Sigma, or continuous improvement or equivalent process improvement experience. Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or business integration initiatives.
