Permanent Job title: Senior Indirect Tax Analyst Salary: $110,000 - $120,000 base + bonus Role status: Current opening We are hiring on behalf of our client: A financial services organization based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Position overview We are hiring on behalf of our client for a Senior Indirect Tax Analyst to join their Taxation team. This role will support the organization's commodity tax function, with a focus on indirect tax compliance, reporting, audit support, and advisory work. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing and reviewing tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial indirect tax legislation, supporting audits, and providing guidance to internal stakeholders on indirect tax matters. This role will also contribute to upcoming cross-training between the direct and indirect tax streams and support tax-related initiatives tied to the implementation of a new billing system. Reporting directly to the VP, this hybrid Toronto-based opportunity offers strong exposure across the business and a clear path for growth within the tax function. Principal tasks and responsibilities include: Support monthly and annual indirect tax compliance and reporting requirements Prepare and review indirect tax filings, calculations, and supporting documentation Ensure compliance with federal and provincial indirect tax legislation Support commodity tax audits and assist with responses to tax authorities Provide indirect tax guidance and advisory support to internal stakeholders across the organization Contribute to tax-related projects, including support during the implementation of a new billing system Participate in cross-training initiatives across direct and indirect tax streams Act as a key resource for internal teams on indirect tax matters Collaborate closely with Finance, Reporting, and other business partners Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Analyze tax issues, identify risks, and recommend practical solutions Build strong working relationships across Finance and the broader business Exercise sound judgment and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment Qualifications and pre-requisites: 5+ years of experience in accounting and taxation, with strong specialization in indirect tax CPA designation preferred, or a master's degree/equivalent experience Financial services experience preferred Strong knowledge of provincial and federal indirect tax legislation Experience preparing monthly and annual returns, SAM calculations, and supporting audits Experience supporting commodity tax audits and responding to audit requests Understanding of insurance accounting, including premiums, claims, statutory overdue, collections, reinsurance, and related controls Strong analytical abilities and mathematical aptitude, including ratings, formulae, and percentages Advanced Excel skills and solid proficiency in Microsoft Office Familiarity with tax, accounting, or insurance systems Prior leadership or mentorship experience is an asset, but direct people management experience is not required isgSearch does not use artificial intelligence throughout the hiring process.
