Why is this role important?

The Team Lead, Accounting Services and Corporate Reporting leads the accounting services functions related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and financial reconciliations. This role ensures compliance with policies and procedures, oversees audit preparation, manages the corporate credit card program, and contributes to system enhancements and financial reporting. The Team Lead provides leadership and guidance to staff, fosters learning opportunities, and collaborates with other finance units to support organizational financial objectives.

What you'll do

  1. Supervise, coach and develop a high performing team; oversee all operational activities by assigning work, setting objectives, monitoring performance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  2. Lead, coordinate, and review daily and month-end accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed asset activities, ensuring timely processing and compliance with CIHI policies. Perform quality assurance and testing reviews.

  3. Oversee financial reconciliations to ensure organizational compliance; address issues and contribute to policy development and updates.

  4. Manage the corporate credit card program and flight credit processes, actively participating in related changes.

  5. Advise management and staff on special requests and general inquiries related to accounting services.

  6. Oversee audit preparation activities related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets to meet auditor requirements.

  7. Ensure accurate and timely payment of statutory remittances including GST/HST, QST, provincial sales taxes, and non-resident taxes.

  8. Develop and implement tailored communication and learning materials to support unit activities.

  9. Participate in maintenance and major enhancements of financial accounting and business systems, including ERP improvements; coordinate finance resources for requirements gathering and testing; identify process efficiencies.

  10. Stay current with GAAP, federal and provincial legislation, regulations, and best practices to ensure compliance; provide expertise and recommendations to senior management.

  11. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of CIHI products, services, policies, procedures, and CRM/eCommerce systems.

What you'll bring to the table

  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration or Commerce, or related field with a professional accounting designation in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in accounting services.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficient with accounting software, reporting tools, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
