About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Finance team at Argen’s Head office in Kelowna, BC. In this hands-on role, you will take ownership of core accounting areas including intercompany transactions, reconciliations, accruals, cost accounting, and tax/compliance support, working closely with the Controller to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reporting. You’ll analyze data, spot trends, and provide insights that guide business decisions.

This role is well-suited for an individual who is strong at both execution and problem-solving, and demonstrates excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and drive to improve processes while maintaining strong financial controls.

What You’ll Do

General Accounting & Reporting

Maintain general ledger accounts by preparing journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Prepare and maintain monthly working papers and account reconciliations Ensure completeness and accuracy of accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet accounts Identify discrepancies and resolve issues before close Support timely and accurate month-end close execution Assist with preparation of income statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and year-end audit schedules.

Reconciliations & Financial Controls

Prepare and review bank and credit card reconciliations Reconcile AP subledger to general ledger and resolve discrepancies Monitor clearing accounts, unvouchered invoices, and aged balances Ensure all key accounts are properly supported and tie out

Intercompany & Cross-Entity Accounting

Prepare and post intercompany transactions and offsets Perform monthly intercompany reconciliations Coordinate with Argen US and other entities to resolve timing or balance differences Track and resolve outstanding intercompany items

Tax & Compliance Support

Prepare GST/PST/QST working papers and support filings Assist with tax accruals and corporate tax installment calculations Support statutory filings (EHT, tax slips, etc.) Ensure compliance-related balances are accurate and properly recorded Preparation and submission of GST/HST/PST returns and other compliance filings. Assist with preparation of T2 tax package for external accountants.

Expense, Payroll & Operational Support

Process payroll and related journal entries Oversee expense reporting and Concur reconciliation processes Ensure accuracy of expense-related postings and allocations

Cost Accounting & Inventory Support

Prepare inventory reconciliations and supporting schedules Assist with standard cost updates and data validation Analyze variances (PPV, production, freight-in, etc.) and flag issues Support margin analysis and cost reporting Ensure inventory and COGS accounts tie out to subledger/system Support documentation and working papers for inventory and cost accounting

What You Bring

Accounting or Finance degree/diploma 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including payroll Strong technical accounting understanding of reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial close processes Solid understanding of cost accounting and variance analysis Experience with intercompany accounting preferred Exposure to sales tax (GST/PST/QST) and compliance processes CPA designation (or in progress) strongly preferred Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups); ERP experience (QAD preferred) Strong analytical and critical thinking skills Integrity, accountability, and collaborative approach
