THE OPPORTUNITY:
Tundra is excited to announce an opportunity for a Strategic Planning Technologist based out of our Calgary office.
This is a key role supporting Tundra’s strategic planning, business development, and portfolio analysis activities. Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Planning, the Strategic Planning Technologist will help ensure accurate planning data, develop meaningful reporting and analysis, and support decision-making for asset teams and leadership.
Working across strategic planning, business development, technical teams, IT, data science, and asset teams, you will support Mosaic and Valnav database management, reporting, economic analysis, and cross-functional project work. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys working with data, improving processes, and translating complex information into clear, actionable insights.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Strategic Planning
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Maintain, validate, and audit Mosaic and Valnav data to support budgeting, reserves, long-range planning, lookbacks, forecasting, and economic analysis
- Develop and apply data quality controls to support consistency, accuracy, and integrity across planning datasets
- Upload production, capital, and price deck information to support forecasting and analysis
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, database queries, and analytical tools, including quarterly and annual reporting on reserves, production volumes, capital activity, and new volumes added through capital spending.
- Support standardized and integrated planning processes for asset-level capital and operating budgets
- Create and manage automated economic lookbacks to share learnings with asset teams and leadership
- Maintain business development evaluation databases and support acquisition, divestiture, and farm-in/farm-out evaluations
- Prepare asset and portfolio summaries, economic screening, sensitivities, and internal versus external opportunity comparisons
- Coordinate technical, financial, land, reserves, and commercial inputs, and support opportunity pipeline tracking for leadership review
- Support Mosaic and Valnav onboarding and training to help drive consistent use across teams
- Collaborate with IT, data scientists, analysts, and technical teams on database maintenance, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Support continuous improvement by maintaining current knowledge of tools, processes, and best practices
WHAT YOU NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
- 5–10+ years of experience in business analysis, data management, or a related role
- Experience in the upstream oil and gas sector is considered an asset, particularly within reserves or business development
- Mosaic experience is required
- Valnav experience is considered an asset
- Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI and Spotfire
- Strong understanding of data management, data quality assurance, and large dataset validation
- Experience supporting reserves, budgeting, long-range planning, forecasting, economic analysis, or lookbacks
- Understanding of economic practices, valuation indicators, sensitivities, risk factors, and value drivers used in portfolio and business development decisions
- Experience with data structures, relational databases, reporting tools, and basic querying is considered an asset

Staff provide technical expertise for all drilling, completions and well tie-in activity, engineering support for facilities optimization, surface leasing, supply chain management, environmental activities, production accounting, human resources, local information services, and coordination of the company’s safety program.
The Calgary technical office provides geological, geophysical, and reservoir engineering support and mineral leasing. Tundra uses the latest technology to explore for and develop assets, including 3D and 4D seismic, advanced coring and logging techniques, reservoir characterization and dynamic fluid simulation, and secondary and tertiary recovery mechanisms, such as waterflooding and CO2 injection.
