Prairie Co-op is hiring a full-time Director of Finance on a permanent basis at our Administration Office in Melville, SK.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Finance is responsible for implementing financial strategies, managing accounting and budgeting, and ensuring the financial health of our organization. This is a key leadership role that will collaborate with the senior leadership team to contribute to the overall strategic planning and decision-making for Prairie Co-op. The ideal candidate is a proactive and experienced leader with a strong background in finance and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of financial practice.

The key responsibilities areas include:

  • Provide leadership for Prairie Co-op’s Finance function, including general accounting, cost management, budgeting and IT.
  • Understand and forecast business, industry, and economic trends to align and implement financial programs and policies.
  • Develop and foster strong working relationships within the leadership team, actively participate in strategic planning and decision making, and participate in the development and implementation of financial policies and programs.
  • Oversee the development and execution of the Prairie Co-op’s overall financial strategy, including accounting/financial reporting, budgeting, tax, audits, and external investing activities.
  • Provide financial analyses, studies, and counsel on matters of significant financial impact, including economic/competitive trends, pricing, cash flow, product line evaluation, and capital additions.
  • Lead and manage the finance team, including talent management, recruitment, and performance evaluation.
  • Ensure the company’s financial and regulatory compliance and anticipate business challenges and opportunities.
  • Develop and implement the department’s business plan and budget, including preparing and delivering presentations to various audiences.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in Finance and:

  • A degree in business or Finance is preferred. CPA designation is an asset.
  • You have over 10 years of progressively responsible experience in finance, with prior leadership experience.
  • You’re familiar with forecasting and budgeting, inventory control and asset management, internal and external audit for regulatory due diligence.
  • You believe in building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.
