The Opportunity As a Commercial Analyst, you’ll play a key role in supporting and growing our commercial lending portfolio. Working closely with the Manager, Commercial Lending and a dedicated team, you’ll bring strong analytical skills and sound judgement to support decision-making and deliver results.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management & Client Support Preparing annual reviews for all commercial accounts, including credit investigations Analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with CMHC special conditions, performing ricing reviews and risk rating updates, and recommending required actions Responding to client inquiries; preparing changes to loan terms and conditions; negotiating renewal interest rates; and managing other account-related matters
Portfolio Monitoring & Maintenance Monitoring the portfolio for missed payments and taking appropriate corrective action Working with borrowers on debt restructuring, including seeking credit approval and preparing loan amendment documentation Performing collections activities related to commercial accounts, including foreclosure and sale of commercial properties as required
Business Development Support Contacting existing clients and acting on identified lending and/or deposit opportunities Support Commercial Relationship Managers in sourcing new business from partners, borrowers and referral sources
Credit Analysis & Due Diligence Interviewing applicants, mortgage brokers or clients to assess financial needs; negotiating terms and conditions; structuring proposals and developing Term Sheets Conducting comprehensive analysis of financial statements, cash flow, business performance, profitability and shareholder net worth Performing market research and security assessments to evaluate borrower and industry risk Preparing detailed credit applications in compliance with commercial lending policies and guidelines Completing applications for CMHC Certificate of Insurance
What You Bring You’re analytical, detail-oriented, and thrive in a fast-paced financial environment. You enjoy working with data, solving problems, and collaborating with others.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Finance or a related discipline 3+ years commercial lending experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience) Experience analyzing financial statements and assessing loan applications Working knowledge of mortgage processes, including CMHC and multi-residential financing Understanding of commercial real estate lending and appraisal basics Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills Effective communication and relationship-building abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Compensation & Benefits This is a permanent full-time position and is rated a Salary Level P3 with a salary range $82,933- $97,568.
LSM offers a comprehensive benefits package and the opportunity to participate in the Performance Sharing Incentive Plan.
Location & Flexibility Based in our Halifax, NS office, provides services throughout Atlantic Canada, this role offers flexibility for remote work.
Work Schedule This position requires occasional evening or weekend work.
