We are looking for a Sr. Accountant to join our dynamic team at Trophy Foods. Overview: The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring the overall integrity and completeness of the financial statements. This includes month/year end closing, review of internal controls, completion of account reconciliations, and managing the audit PBC list. The incumbent will have a mandate to develop and implement process improvements, with the objective of driving efficiencies and building a best-in-class organization.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for all general ledger transactions while ensuring accuracy and integrity of the statements. Responsible for completing month end financial reporting. Responsible for preparing bank reconciliations. Calculate and prepare standard monthly journal entries. Responsible for identification, recording, valuation, reporting and timely capitalization of capital projects. Reconcile balance sheet accounts (Bank, Prepaids, Taxes, etc.) and ensure other groups are completing recs timely and efficiently. Maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial activities. Responsible for maintaining the chart of accounts, and policy and procedure documentation as required. Manages the FX including booking entries, updates JDE with monthly rates, tracks and journalizes US forwards and runs reports in JDE to post monthly FX entries. Review sales tax requirements for Canada and US to ensure compliance. Prepare and submit documentation for corporate tax return to tax preparers. Back up review of cheques and EFTs before submitting for final payment. Assist with annual physical inventory counts. Assist with preparation for annual audits and manage auditors’ requests. Cross train and provide back up to the Inventory Control Coordinator. Perform ad hoc analysis and reports as requested. Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements: College diploma or University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. 3+ years in a Finance setting in a progressive finance role. CPA designation is preferred. Experience with consolidation of multi-currency statements an asset. Preference to a Consumer-Packaged Goods company and/or food & beverage. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners. Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Strong organization and time management skills. Self-starter who works well with limited supervision. Pro-active with a customer service and continuous improvement mindset. Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy. Superior Excel skills and experience with ERP/ JD Edwards. Experience with Hubble is an asset.
