Junior Accountant $50,000–$60,000 + Bonus & Benefits North York, ON (Fully Onsite)
Our client, a well-established real estate development company, is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their growing finance team. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build a long-term career within a dynamic and fast-paced organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to learn. You'll have the opportunity to work closely with an experienced accounting team while supporting a diverse portfolio of real estate development projects.
Key Responsibilities Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Prepare monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations. Process deposits, payments, and other banking transactions. Record journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close. Reconcile project costs, loan balances, and intercompany accounts. Prepare HST returns and assist with other tax-related reporting. Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with Canadian accounting standards and company policies. Support project accounting by tracking development-related financial activity and preparing supporting documentation. Assist with audit requests and provide financial information as required. Participate in process improvements and support ad hoc projects.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline. 1–3 years of accounting experience, including exposure to full-cycle accounting. Experience within real estate, construction, land development, or property accounting is considered an asset. Knowledge of HST filings and Canadian accounting principles. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
