About the role

Role: Assistant Controller

Job Summary: The Assistant Controller oversees all accounting operations and financial reporting to ensure accuracy, compliance, and integrity of financial data. This role manages the full accounting cycle and provides financial insights to support business and operational decisions. In a heavy equipment environment, the role also supports inventory accounting, equipment-related transactions, and operational financial processes while maintaining strong internal controls and collaborating across departments.

Job Responsibilities: · Oversee full-cycle accounting and financial reporting · Lead month-end and year-end close processes · Prepare financial statements, reports, and cash flow analysis · Manage inventory and equipment accounting · Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and banking activities · Supervise payroll processing and basic HR administration support · Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with accounting standards · Support audits and external reporting requirements · Supervise and support accounting staff · Provide financial support to internal departments and leadership

Qualifications: · Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred · CPA designation or in progress considered an asset · 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction or heavy equipment industries · Strong full-cycle accounting and financial reporting knowledge · Experience with inventory and operational accounting · Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Excel · Strong analytical and organizational skills
