Overview Dentons is seeking a Financial Accountant who is responsible for the timely and accurate execution of key corporate accounting activities, including complex bank reconciliations, journal entries, and the preparation of supporting schedules and reports for the month-end close process. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, advanced Excel capabilities, and a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial close procedures. The Financial Accountant is Reporting to the Assistant Controller. This role is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in the office. Key Responsibilities
Support the month-end close process, including:
Prepare and post journal entries and allocation entries Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items Prepare monthly financial reporting schedules and supporting working papers Liaise with internal stakeholders to obtain information required to support close, reporting, and audit deliverables
Prepare multiple high-volume, complex national bank reconciliations on a daily basis and resolve reconciling items Analyze general ledger activity and investigate unusual variances and discrepancies Prepare year-end files and supporting documentation for the annual audit Support the development and documentation of policies and procedures, with an emphasis on internal controls Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and month-end close efficiency Provide ad hoc analysis and support, as required
Qualifications and Requirements
Accounting diploma required. A bachelor's degree (BComm) with a major in accounting and/or enrolment in the early stages of a CPA designation is considered an asset. Minimum of 2–4 years of related experience. Strong aptitude and experience with accounting systems is required. Experience with Elite 3E is considered an asset. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is required, with strong working knowledge of Outlook and Word and advanced Excel skills, including data manipulation. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals. Dedicated, proactive, and able to perform a variety of accounting functions independently.

The target salary range for this position is $60,000 – $80,000, commensurate with the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.
