We are currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Vancouver office, reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting. This is a hybrid role with opportunity to work from home, but the successful candidate will be required to go into the office from time to time.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Preparation of bank reconciliations;
- Responsible for Month-end closing process;
- Preparation of month-end reports including the OMP reports;
- Financial statement variance analysis;
- Maintenance of the general ledger;
- Assist with preparation of various trust audit reports;
- Assist in year-end working papers;
- Assist in budget preparation and account analyses;
- Assist and support managers and directors with special projects and department initiatives;
- Responsible for coordinating tasks with members of the department to ensure deadlines are met;
- Oversee the maintenance of banking documentation, signatories and contacts at banks, and investigations into banking issues as they arise;
- Analyze and evaluate potential changes to processes and procedures to increase efficiency within the department;
- Respond to requests for data and validation of data to ensure accuracy;
- Assist in the implementation of approved changes to department processes; and
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Qualities & Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field;
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of accounting experience in a similar role required;
- Experience in a Legal Firm or Professional Services Firm is an asset, but not required;
- Recent completion or close to completion of a professional accounting designation;
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills required;
- Strong MS Office (Excel) skills and experience with accounting programs required;
- Excellent communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to listen effectively, respond appropriately, and maintain a mutual comfort level while relating to a diverse group of individuals;
- Strong ability to manage multiple internal clients and remain productive within a time-sensitive and fast-paced environment;
- Ability to multitask, establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives under minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities required; and
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize and deliver creative solutions.
