Staff Accountant Career Opportunity Based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant to join our Team. Position Summary The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions of the Company. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reconciliations, supporting treasury reporting, assisting with tax filings, and coordinating financial information for exploration projects and corporate entities. The position works closely with the Accounting Manager and other members of the finance team to support month-end, year-end, and regulatory reporting requirements. Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations Review invoices for coding accuracy and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained prior to payment. Prepare and process electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments and other approved vendor payments. Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, reversals, and prepaid expense amortization. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate outstanding items. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts. Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities. Ensure accounting records are complete, accurate, and properly supported. Reporting Prepare detailed reports for various projects, tracking costs incurred and analyzing expenditures to ensure accurate billing to joint venture partners. Prepare treasury and cash balance reports. Produces ad hoc, customized project reports for internal stakeholders and senior management, supporting strategic decision-making across business units. Maintain supporting schedules and working papers for reporting purposes. Tax & Regulatory Compliance Prepare and file Provincial Sales Tax (PST) returns and Saskatchewan Fuel Tax rebate claims. Assist with GST input tax credit claims and reconciliations. Maintain supporting documentation for tax filings and regulatory requirements. Audit Support Assist with year-end audit requests and supporting schedules. Prepare account reconciliations and supporting documentation for auditors. Maintain schedules for accruals, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet accounts. General Accounting Support Investigate and resolve discrepancies within the general ledger and supporting records. Assist with maintaining accounting procedures and internal controls. Provide administrative and accounting support to the finance department as required. Qualifications Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. 4-5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience. Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
