Position Summary |
This position reports to the Payroll & Benefits Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day administration and processing of multiple company payrolls within the organization . The role supports accurate and timely payroll processing, payroll reporting , and new hire administration while ensuring compliance with applicable legislation and company policies.
Hours of work required for this position are Monday to Friday 8: 0 0a .m. - 4 : 3 0p .m .
Key Responsibilities |

Responsible for the full payroll cycle for assigned salaried and hourly employees

Receive and prepare semi-monthly payroll data for entry into Ceridian system

Verify payroll information for accuracy prior to payroll review and deposit date

Administration of new hires, onboarding, terminations, and all payroll changes
-
Ensure payroll activity is supported with authorized file documentation
-
Maintain payroll records and filing in a n accurate and timely manner
-
Ensure accurate remittance of statutory deductions and garnish ments

Issue Records of Employment as required

Prepare and process annual T4s
-
Assist with vacation and sick leave administration

Answer and assist employees with payroll questions

Prepare, organize and maintain detailed payroll related Excel spreadsheets and reports

Prepare salary allocation worksheets including invoicing salary costs to various entities

Prepare accounting journal entries and payroll account reconciliation s as required

Prepare year end files for audit purposes and liaise with auditors in respect to queries

Develop and generate payroll queries , reports and analysis from Ceridian / Pow erpay

Ensure payroll compliance and remain current on legislati ve changes and payroll best practices

Prepare payroll and HR- related correspondence including offer letters, emails and memos

Assist in new employee on-b oarding administration and orientation

Collaborate with H uman R esources and other d epartments as required
Participate in s pecial projects and additional duties as assigned
Qualifications |
-
Minimum o f 3 - 5 years payroll experience including full - cycle processing for salaried and hourly employees in a workforce of approximately 1 5 0 + employees

Entry level accounting experience required

Completion of a post-secondary education program is required

Completion of a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation required

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required

Demonstrated experience with payroll processing software ; Ceridian Power p ay experience preferred

Strong understanding of payroll procedures , reporting , and compliance requirements

Knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards legislation

E xperience with Yardi accounting software considered an asset
E xperience with BambooHR software considered an asset
