The company is known for partnering with respected brands such as Arne’s Trailers, which has a strong reputation in gravel and specialized low-bed trailers. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Financial Controller role based in Acheson, AB. The Financial Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting for multiple locations. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing monthly and annual financial statements, monitoring variances, managing general ledger functions, and ensuring accurate accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes. The role will also involve developing and maintaining internal controls, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies. The Financial Controller will collaborate with senior leadership to provide financial analysis, support strategic decision-making, and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and profitability. Qualifications Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting. Proficiency in accounting principles and practices, including general ledger management, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related financial operations in a multi-location environment. Advanced skills with accounting and ERP software, along with strong Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet/analysis tools capabilities. Knowledge of Canadian taxation, regulatory compliance, and audit processes, preferably within the transportation, equipment, or resource sectors. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports, and present insights to senior leadership and other stakeholders. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and support operational teams. Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) or progress toward designation is strongly preferred; relevant post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required.
